| Carey 1-06 Glenravel 2-05 |
| Carey Faughs suffered their 5th straight defeat in a less than scintillating encounter with Con Magee’s, Glenravel. The game started in emphatic fashion with Glenravel 3 points to the good inside 5 minutes. However Carey finally snapped out of their bemused state on 13 minutes when Collie Smith pounced in the box to score a low driven goal. This sparked more life into the game and the half concluded with points from Tommy Devlin and Martin Butler to leave the score 1-2 to 0-3 in Carey’s favour. The injury to Collie Smith at the beginning of the second half deflated the momentum which had been building for the away side and Glenravel capitalised, scoring a goal and 2 points in 4 minutes to put themselves back infront. From then on the game was plagued with missed opportunities, too many steps, silly fouls and bookings, but in spite of this, 3 points from Martin Butler and one from Ciaran McCaughan put Carey one point ahead with 3 minutes to go. The game concluded in most controversial circumstances, with Glenravel scoring a winning goal in the 8th minute of injury time, the scores 2-5 to 1-6, a decision that will be up for some debate I’m sure. |
