Antrim Hurling League Division 3   6th May 2009
Cushendun 1-6 Carey 0-12
Carey made this their third consecutive victory, with a well earned win, in awful weather conditions, in Cushendun. With our lads finding the underfoot conditions hard to get adjusted to, it was the home side who got off to a great start with three unanswered points, before Martin Mc Auley opened the scoring for us with a pointed free on the 12th minute. Tommy Devlin had a couple of excellent points from mid-field before Brendan Mc Sparran found the Carey net, on the 27th minute. Collie Smyth slotted over our fourth point, to leave the half time score Cushendun 1-5, Carey 0-4.

The second half started with both sides reduced to 14 players after a couple of altercations. However, a more determined Carey this half, saw Martin Mc Auley reduce the arrears with a point. With Carey now completely dominating affairs, further points from Doug Mc Auley, Shane Mc Cambridge and Collie Smyth, cut the deficit to a point, with Cushendun's Laverty getting their only score of the half with a point. With 13 minutes left, Martin Mc Auley levelled the game and further scores from Ciaran Mc Caughan, Martin and Collie gave us a 3 point cushion after a very one-sided second half. A special mention to our young keeper Chris Butler, who pulled off some splendid saves, especially one in the dying seconds from the Emmett's full forward Aiden Mort.

Doug Mc Auley 0-1
