| St Brigids Cloughmills 4-9 Carey 3-13 |
| We picked up our fourth consecutive league victory with a hard earned win over the previously unbeaten St Brigids. Indeed when considering that we were without five regulars, this was a 'big victory'. Rory Mc Bride opened the scoring, with a well taken point, after only a couple of minutes. However, this was to be our last score until the 19th minute when Martin Mc Auley drove a 20metre free direct to the visitors net. Prior to that, St Brigids had tagged 1-3 on the scoreboard. Points apiece from Nat Hunter and Rory gave us the lead and another rocket from Big Martin, to the Cloughmills net, gave us a three point lead. Despite a late point from Cathal Mc Auley, the League leaders went in 2-5 to 2-4 ahead courtesy of a late Liam Kearns goal.
After the re-start three quick points from Cathal Mc Auley put us back in 'control zone', but a foul by the Carey rearguard, was punished as Kearns found the Carey net direct from the resultant free. With Cloughmills now seeming to have the upper hand, and Aaron Smylie outstanding in their defence, a second goal from Michael Devlin, left them three clear with eight minutes remaining. However, this Carey side contains a fighting spirit, and now this showed here, with the introduction of Colin Smyth, and the determination of the entire team. Further points from Nat, Collie Smyth and Fintan Mc Carry levelled the scores again. But a 57th Martin Mc Auley goal gave us the lead. Which we held for two valuable points in a game which was a great advert for Division 3 Hurling.
