Match Report:
Carey secured their place in Division 2 with a comprehensive win over a depleted St Gall's team. Carey found the back of the net twice in the first half and worked well as a team throughout to take a 13 point lead into the break.
Half time score: St Galls 0.3 Carey 2.10
Carey took their foot off the pedal a little in the second half and only managed 6 further points. Despite this St Galls could only manage 5 further points themselves and the damage had been done in the first half as Carey won this crucial game by 14 points.
Full time score: St Galls 0.8 Carey 2.16
Note: The official score by the referee was St Galls 0.7 Carey 2.17 but the Carey management team had the score and scorers down as St Galls 0.8 Carey 2.16.
Congratulations to our new Mayoress of Carey - Tina Mulholland.
All 4 candidates have put in a lot of effort over the past month to raise funds for the pitch development and came up with a range of fundraising events including a curry night, a poker night, road hurling, poc fada and a coffee morning to name a few.

Chairperson of Moyle District Council Paudie McShane was in attendance at the final last night (Friday 30th September in Carey Hall) to present the Mayors chain to the person who raised the most money over the past month and on the night this accolade went to Tina Mulholland who raised a grand total of £908.
It is important to mention though that the rest of the candidates (Darren McVeigh, Gerard McAuley and Dolores Hunter) also raised huge amounts of money with the grand total being over £3000. So thank you so much to all the candiadtes who took the time to arrange the events and also to everyone who supported all these events over the past month.
Following the crowning of the McBride clan as the Kings of Carey in their last fundraising event of the Summer Carey Faughs have now decided that it is time that Carey had its own Mayor / Mayoress. This is a fundraising event with a difference. Over the last few weeks members of the Parish have been short-listed down to four candidates to run for Mayor / Mayoress of Carey. The four worthy candidates are the well known;
Dolores (Do Do) Hunter,
Darren (Daza) McVeigh,
Catriona (Tina) Mulholland and
Gerard (Cubby) McAuley
Over the recent weeks these four hard liners have been holding small fund raising events in the Parish to raise money that will all go towards the development of the pitch.
The final of this election which will see the winner being crowned is this Friday night (30th Sept) in Carey Hall starting at 9.30pm and will definitely be a good night of entertainment. Each candidate will present their manifest again to the audience. They will have another bash at raising more money on the night with a raffle. The candidate that raises the most money in total with all the events will be the winner.
The highlight of the night will be the crowning of the new Carey Mayor / Mayoress by our own local Chairman of Moyle District Council Mr Paudie McShane.
Paudie has been a long time supporter of the Carey Faughs and even played for the senior team in his younger years. He says “I am delighted to have the opportunity to present the Chain of Office to the worthy winner who no doubt will continue to do good work for their Club over the next year”.
The night will start at 9.30pm in Carey Hall. Compare and DJ for the night will be Carey’s own Jake Paterson who is sure to entertain the crowd for the rest of the night. Please come along and help raise money for the development of our sports grounds.
